Apple Bars

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling and chopping them.
  3. Cream together 1/2 cup of butter with granulated sugar.
  4. Add sour cream, vanilla, baking soda, salt, and flour.
  5. Stir the mixture and add chopped apples as you stir.
  6. Using a small bowl, crumble in 2 tablespoons of softened butter, the brown sugar, and cinnamon together. Sprinkle this over the batter.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes and let it cool completely.
  8. For icing, mix 2 tablespoons of melted butter, milk, and powered sugar. Drizzle over and serve 18 bars.
