Dr. Sumit Kumar is a board-certified nephrologist with more than 17 years of experience serving patients with kidney disease and hypertension. He trained at the premier nephrology fellowship program in Denver, Colorado and is one of the few trained interventional nephrologists in the DFW area. Dr. Kumar ardently believes in “Service before Self,” He says, “I listen intently to my patients and do my best to make things less complicated. Kidney disease can be very serious, so I strive to be reassuring and compassionate while guiding them through their options.”
Sumit Kumar, M.D.
Nephrology
Dr. Sumit Kumar is a board-certified nephrologist with more than 18 years of experience serving patients with complex kidney problems and hypertension. He trained at the premier nephrology fellowship program in Denver, Colorado and is one of the few trained interventional nephrologists in Dallas-Fort Worth. He has a special interest in treating patients with chronic kidney disease and complex hypertension, electrolyte, and glomerular disorders. Dr. Kumar is actively involved in education and nephrology research, and he advises large corporations about new drug development and technologies to treat kidney disease.
Dr. Kumar ardently believes in “Service before Self,” and the group practices cutting-edge, comprehensive, and compassionate care in a concierge environment. He and his partners are aggressive about preventing the progression of chronic kidney disease using the latest strategies and state-of-the art technology. Dr. Kumar says, “I listen intently to my patients and do my best to make things less complicated. Kidney disease can be very serious, so I strive to be reassuring and compassionate while guiding them through their options.”

Shaun Kaiser, M.D.
Nephrology
Dr. Shaun Kaiser is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine with special interest in nutrition. Having been a registered dietitian for over 18 years, part of that working with dialysis patients, he grew especially fond of caring for those suffering kidney disease. Dr. Kaiser is passionate about his work and believes in preventive care to come up with strategies to prevent progression of CKD.
Shaun Kaiser, M.D.
Nephrology
Dr. Shaun Kaiser is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine with special interest in nutrition. Having been a registered dietitian for over 18 years, part of that working with dialysis patients, he grew especially fond of caring for those suffering kidney disease.
After receiving his Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Performance from the University of Houston, he graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Kaiser completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology training in 2012 from Indiana University.
Dr. Kaiser has been part of Texas Kidney Institute since 2013. He is passionate about treating patients with CKD. Dr. Kaiser believes in preventive care and works with patients to come up with strategies to prevent progression of CKD.
Traveling, his fondest hobby, Dr. Kaiser has recently worked both domestic and abroad, prior to settling down here in Dallas with his wife and family.
In addition to nutrition, special interests included community education, electrolyte disturbances and critical care.

Krishna Pakkivenkata, M.D.
Nephrology
Dr. Krishna Pakkivenkata is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine. After receiving his medical degree from Andhra medical college in India in 1999, he joined Royal College of Physicians to pursue his post doctoral training and graduated in 2004. Surachit Kumar, M.D.

Dr. Surachit Kumar is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine. After receiving his medical degree in 2004 from University College of Medical Sciences in India, he joined Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnston Pennsylvania to pursue his post doctoral training and completed his internal medicine residency in 2012. Dr. Kumar completed his Nephrology fellowship in 2015 from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dr. Kumar has been part of Texas Kidney Institute since 2015. He enjoys working with his patients and strategizing to ensure not only their conditions are treated but continuous preventive care is in place.
Dr. Kumar enjoys travelling, biking and watching movies.

From 2008-2017, she worked as a PA and Clinical Research Coordinator at Endocrine Associates of Dallas. She joined the Texas Kidney Institute practice as part of the Nephrotex Research Group as a Clinical Research Manager and Sub-Investigator prior to joining the practice as a Physician Assistant in July 2017.
Elisha Shelton, MPAS, MS-CRM, PA-C

Elisha Shelton, MPAS, MS-CRM, PA-C earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. After graduation, she worked from 2001-2005 as a clinical research coordinator at Dallas Nephrology Associates. In 2005, she began a dual Master’s degree program the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth where she graduated in 2008 with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies and Masters of Clinical Research Management.
In 2008, she received her professional certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) as well as her Texas Physician Assistants Board License. From 2008-2017, she worked as a PA and Clinical Research Coordinator at Endocrine Associates of Dallas. She joined the Texas Kidney Institute practice as part of the Nephrotex Research Group in February 2015 as a Clinical Research Manager and Sub-Investigator prior to joining the practice in the scope of Physician Assistant in July 2017.
Elisha has co-authored several abstracts related to nephrology and hypertension and received the Outstanding Poster presentation award in 2008 from the American Academy of Nephrology Physician Assistants (AANPA). In addition to being a member of several professional associations, Elisha is a member of Pi Alpha National Honor Society of Physician Assistants.
Elisha enjoys engaging with her patients to ensure they receive they receive the best care possible as well as understand their disease state and treatment. She also enjoys her role in clinical research as her research perspective complements her clinical skills and knowledge when treating her patients.
In her free time, Elisha loves to spend time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys exploring new places to eat in the DFW area, traveling the US and visiting her hometown.

She joined South University, Georgia and completed her Post Masters Nurse Practitioner in Family practice in the year 2018.
