The early stages of kidney disease frequently show no symptoms. Only via testing can you determine how well your kidneys are functioning. Obtain a kidney disease examination if you have:

• diabetes
• high blood pressure
• heart disease
• a family history of kidney failure

Get checked annually if you have diabetes. With your healthcare practitioner, you can discuss how frequently you should be checked if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, or a family history of renal failure. The sooner you receive therapy to help safeguard your kidneys after discovering you have renal disease, the better.
